I think this does need addressing.

I'm going to have to go at this easily too as to not hurt anyone's feelings.

Interesting thing...

I have seen disabilities in all but one of my children in care.

*1 has shown signs of a vision problem (poss. Dislexia ~ parents have yet to have her evaluated even though we sat down & discussed it last year September).

*Another has low muscle tone...his parents listened and had him evaluated...ended up being diagnosed and both parents & I worked hard and now he is so much closer to being caught up to the children his age. This affected his speech, large & small motor skills!

*Another shows signs of Asperger's Syndrome. Mom & Grandmother are interested to find out too ~ he reminds me of my eldest son at his age who has been diagnosed with AS.

*2 of my dckids have a language barrier (they speak only Japanese) ~ somewhat of a disability...especially when it comes down to them communicating their needs.

*Another has shown signs of ADHD ~ he's a wirey little guy.

*And then there is this little gal with her struggles with her neck.

You may be correct on this, or it may even be a physiological problem that requires further medical testing. It's hard to say for those of us who haven't seen the baby and aren't medical care professionals, but if it was my baby, I believe I'd have her evaluated. It's hard for some parents to accept the fact that their child may not be perfect (announcement- -none is!), so bringing this up to them can be very touchy. jav

I was curious to what may be inhibiting this dcg from holding her head up.

I know I am encouraging "tummy-time" often when she is in care as well as using the Bumbo which I have heard strengthens tummy & neck muscles.

Not certain however if mom & dad are at home ~ they also have a Bumbo (will be talking to them about this today).

I am hoping it will encourage them to do more "tummy-time" to aid in the strengthening of her tummy & neck muscles.

The one thing that concerns me is that she holds her head to one side only and when on her tummy or back will not willingly move it or keep it there (even if I place it in the other direction). When sitting in her carseat or in the Bumbo or even in the Bouncer she tilts her head to this same side too.

A frd of mine who just happen to be stopping by is blind in one eye and asked with concern if perhaps this baby may be. She mentioned she used to cock her head (tilt it) to one side so she could see the world around her better.

I was curious if any of you may know of this or any other reason she may be doing this???

Baby was full term & was taken C-sec (if it at all helps to know).
