Hi tandy,
There isn't a simple answer (of course)...are you using a motor on the
regular focus knob, or have you put a crayford focuser on the rear port?
I use Focus Max, set up with a Feathertouch focuser on the rear port.
First you have to run the first light wizard so that your system is
calibrated. Make sure the focuser is kinda in the middle of its range
to start, and fairly well focused - doesn't have to be perfect. Then
FM sort of takes over and runs itself to find the best focus, ands it
sets the parameters for every time you use that system in the future.
You can run the wizard in every combination you normally use - barlow;
different camera, etc - and be ready for it to run.
I've heard good things about @Focus2, but haven't used it. @ Focus was
OK, yuo just had to figure out the right steps - in my case, it was
200 large steps, 10 small steps, for a C14, seemed to work OK. But
really you just have to fool around a bit to find the sweet spot...
hope that helps somewhat...
